Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP) demo is now in the Playstation store!

GO DOWNLOAD IT! NOW!

Size: 189 MB

I am currently downloading it, 31% done!!! I will update this after I play it a bit! OH YEAH!

Edit 1

Just beat a Hypnocatrice, took 9 mins and 30 seconds, using DUAL element duals! Freaking awesome! The new area “Great Forest” looks amazing, the new music is not bad either!

…going to go play more…

Edit 2

So I just played the whole MHFU demo! YAY! Hypnocatrice is AWESOME as is the Great Forest area! DUAL ELEMENT DUALS IN ACTION! The new music is also amazing… I love this demo! However, I have 50 billion (give or take, lol) hours on MH, MHF, and MHF2. I was reading the many posts on the boards about the demo, vets of the series are excited about it…newcomers not so much.

It is about time there was a MH demo, unfortunately they may messed up in a few areas and that might push a few people away.

1. You can’t check your status. To me this is bad, because you cannot look at all the little details on each piece of armor or weapon. It has the effect of saying ‘All armor is the same, it just looks different.’ Which is completely untrue. It should be noted, that in the demo all armor has the same skills….they seem to be to be Auto-Tracker and Health +50.

2. You cannot break pieces off monsters. No broken beaks, no tail cutting, nada. Ripping the monsters to shreds and making them look like hell is half the fun and should be included in the demo! I got the feeling I was causing no damage to anything until it finally limped. I could see that turning away a few people as it can feel like an endless battle and that you are getting no where.

3. G-Rank. Ouch. Plum D. Hermitaur, G-Rank, with his speed and new attacks is quite the challenge! MH is known for being a difficult game, shoving that difficulty down a newbie’s throat in a demo is probably not the best idea. Though it could turn out to be a good thing for the gamers who like a challenge! On the other hand, Auto-Tracker included on every quest!? Where is the “hunting” in that!?

4. No village! NOOOOOO! This is probably the biggest mistake. You play the demo, you kill a monster, you don’t even get to carve the bosses, then it just says quest cleared. They should have included carving and just a peak at the armory so new players could see that you use the items you collect to build better armors and better weapons. They could have let you start in Steel armor or something the kill a few Hypno’s and make a few pieces of armor so you get the gist. Killing monsters is only half the fun of MH. Making armors and weapons, that is where it gets addicting!

I also wish it would save the kill times so you could go back and try to beat your times. That way you could see how you actually become a better hunter as you play, you learn monster’s moves and you can kill them so much faster, without dying, using the exact same equipment.

I hope I am not coming off as hating the demo, as I said before, I loved it! I am ready for MHFU to come out RIGHT NOW! They just could have made the demo a bit more accessible to all gamers.

As a vet or newbie to MH what did you think of the demo?

Oh yeah, you can now go to Gamestop and pick up the demo on UMD!

The Tortoise and …Bitch?

Hi, my name is Dagger and I woke up bitchy today, LOL.

Ok now that you all know that…

I have really being coming out of my ’shell’ lately. Ever since I have decided to move and I stood up to my ‘problem’, I have been taking charge of my life a little at a time, turning it into the direction I want it to go into. I don’t really know exactly what that direction is right now, so I am kinda going in circles and I feel a bit confused, but I am making some progress and it is great!

I have noticed I have become more social and I am willing to try new things. For example, this weekend I am helping a co-worker paint her house. How awesome is that? In the past I would have made up some excuse as to why I didn’t have the time. Being in a social situation like that would have made me panicky. However when she asked me for my help my response was ‘Heck yeah! I like paint!’ LOL!

A lot of people can tell I am ‘changing’ I am not as quiet as I used to be. If something bothers me, I say it…whether this is a good thing…I do not know. For example:

Work has been stressful this week. My scanning partner has been gone for the entire week so I have been *trying* to do the work of 2 people without going into overtime. (Overtime = Death Sentence) Today, I was making some copies when a co-worker started telling me all this stuff to do. She was not asking, she was telling. I simply do not have time for her shit this week.

So, I stopped her mid-sentence and said, “Congratulations on your promotion!”

She gave me a puzzled look and then said, “I didn’t get a promotion.”

I then said, “Oh, then why are you telling me what to do?”

I giggled at myself cause I thought it was pretty funny and I was in disbelief that I had actually said that. She didn’t find it all that funny….She went to the boss. 30 minutes later I was in the Boss’s office, really nervous. I told my boss exactly what happened…she laughed, she thought it was funny too!

‘In my shell Dagger’ would have not said anything, she would have just sat at her scanner, getting pissed at her co-worker, never saying anything and she would have done what her co-worker was asking, even though it was not her responsibility and she did not have the time.

I have been told by a few close people that I have been changing for a while now, but now I am really starting to see it. I think I like it.

By the way, I am probably putting a PS3 on layaway this Saturday! At least I hope I am, I do not know how all that stuff works. If I spent my ‘moving money’ to buy a PS3 I would feel really guilty about it. If I put it on layaway and don’t spend any of the moving money I have saved on it then w00t, it is a much better feeling, even though I will have to wait a bit longer for it!

Wow, I have been writing a lot lately, lol.

I Want My, I Want My, I Want My PS3

Lately it seems everyone and their mother has a PS3. I have been thinking about it and I really want one as well. Before I could careless about owning a PS3, I was happy with my 360 and my other older systems. Then I went to Colorado. I saw GAP’ers playing Burnout on JR’s PS3 and I played a little MGS4. I also got to take a peek at a few other games, like WarHawk, which would be an awesome game to play with the ‘Socom 2 gang.’

Another big factor for my recent want for a PS3, is the people that own a PS3 are the ones I want to play with. I cannot remember the last time I played online with my 360. There are no GAP game nights. The only games I have ever played online with my 360 are Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band…both which are available on the PS3. JR has a PS3, JANE has a PS3, and now even Chuck has one. To make it as blunt as possible: THIS BLOWS!

I got the wrong system. I can admit that. Sure all these RPG’s are coming out for the 360. I love RPG’s, but I would rather play a crappy shooter with my friends then an awesome RPG by myself. I hope this doesn’t come off as me being a selfish jerk. I mean, I am not mad at anyone for owning a PS3. I am just jealous, lol. Especially with the new Socom coming out and Socom2  Tuesdays being about dead. There is nothing for me to play with other GAP’ers. I feel like I am really missing out.

I have been thinking of a few ways to get a PS3. My first thought was trading in my 360 and my games. I do not know if I could actually do that though. I never play it, but I still like knowing it is there, if that makes any sense. I guess it’s just the crazy gamer inside me that won’t even let me trade in Unlimited Saga, which I will NEVER play. I thought about just trading in my 360 system and not my games, I can always buy a 360 later, the prices are really coming down. I am considering this still, even though Fable 2 is coming out, finally a game I might actually play online.

I had other ideas as well. Prostitution, came to mind. However, I am a 23 year old virgin, prostituting my way to a PS3 is not exactly how I pictured my ‘first time’, LOL.  Then again….wait no, bad Jenna! There is also the thought of putting one on layaway at walmart. I know I want the MGS4 bundle for it’s backwards compatibility. I also have a $60 walmart card I got for my birthday that could go towards a down payment. I am going to call around andsee if I can find a WalMart in the area that still has the MGS4 bundle, if I can find one then that may be what I am going to do. I could also apply for a Best Buy or Walmart card. I have no idea what my credit is though andthe thought of having another card…well I might get myself in trouble with that.

If I do get a PS3 then I have this guilty feeling. It’s something like, “Jenna you should be saving all your money for moving not buying a system…” Sometimes I wish that little voice would just shut up.

There is another plan for a PS3. If I stay in Iowa until December 16th all my Paid Time Off at work renews. I don’t use it, I quit, I get it paid out to me. That right there could buy a PS3. If I stay til January 2nd I would also get 3 attendance days paid out to me. It is a tempting thought. A free PS3 AND a few games, just for staying a few extra months. I have lived here 10 or so years, what is a few more months? I know JRANE stand by whenever I decide to move and that is awesome, but I don’t know if it is worth it or not. I would be REALLY risking the snow then…argh.

Any ideas on how to get a PS3, LOL?
