Monster Hunter Tattoos!

W00t! I went to Colorado the last week of June! Had a blast!

I drove out on Saturday, June 26th. I had meant to leave my apartment between 2am and 4am. Due to a medical emergency and  a police officer thinking I was breaking into work,  I did not get on the road until about 6am. (I will spare the details as it will make this blog insanely long, lol.) The drive was LONG and there was a ton of road construction. I spent most of my time thinking of ways I could set up my PSP so I could play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (MHFU) and drive at the same time…

I got to Colorado at about 4:30pm! We (John, Katie, and I) went out to eat at Red Robin (MMMM) my eyes were bigger then my stomach, (and their fries are too damn good, I ate about 48,587,346,578 of them.) I could not finish my awesome bacon cheeseburger. Once we were all stuffed, we went back to John and Katie’s for some Monster Hunter and some movies!

The next day was SUPER AWESOME DAY OF AWESOME aka Monster Hunter Tattoo Day! John started the day off by making awesome blueberry pancakes. I gave a blueberry to Lucy and she decided she liked me, all other trips she couldn’t really make up her mind, LOL. I have never seen a dog eat fruit before…

After breakfast we went to Sam’s Club!  6 lbs of Gummy Bears, 2.25 lb box of Laffy Taffy and 54 ounces of Skittles later we were off to the tattoo shop!

John, Katie and I were all planning on getting matching Monster Hunter Tattoos! We had a heck of a time deciding on what we wanted to get. We thought about the “MH Eye” symbol, the weapon symbols, perhaps a Felynx or Melynx. Then we saw the Fatalis glyph. Once we saw it, we all agreed it was the one.

We went to the tattoo shop, John and Katie know the tattoo artist, they got their Rathalos and Rathian done by him. We filled out some paper work. J and K wouldn’t let me see how much the tattoo was going to cost, it was a birthday present.

John went first, I am pretty sure it was just cause he was super duper scared!

Katie and I played some Monster Hunter while he was getting his tattoo.  (I know MORE Monster Hunter…lol. We can’t help it, it is AWESOME!)

While he was getting his tattoo I was trying to decide where I wanted to get mine. I had a few places in mind, but I wasn’t 100% sure. I needed to hurry up and make up my mind!

After seeing his,  I knew right where I wanted mine! However, I just unlocked my 2 or 3 stars quests on MHFU, so Katie was next!

While Katie was getting her tattoo, I was ‘helping’ a little girl play Monster Hunter on Katie’s PSP. John had left to run to the store and was kind enough to tell the girl I would help her. John is a jerk.

I got up to take a pic of Katie getting her tattoo, I was trying to be all stealthy and ninja like…as you can tell she turned around and said, “You are taking a picture aren’t you?”

…if only my Sneak skill was higher.

John got back from the store while they were finishing up Katie’s tattoo. It looked awesome! Soon it was my turn.

As I sat in the chair, I noticed the tattoo artist had a SWEENEY TODD razor just like mine! w00t! This guy was awesome!

I talked to the tattoo guy about everything from Fable II to religion. Trying to not move my arm, made my arm constantly twitch, lol. This was my least painful tattoo. I don’t know if it is cause of where I got it or cause I was relaxed just chit chatting.

I loved the way my tattoo turned out and I am very happy with where I decided to get it! w00t! A MONSTER HUNTER TATTOO! OH YEAH! *dances*

Getting matching tattoo’s with John and Katie was awesome and they all turned out great!  After the tattoos we hit KFC (I fricken love KFC) then headed home for some…wait for it…Monster Hunter, LOL, withCid! We played for a bit then went to see Land of the Lost! We are all Will Ferrell fans and I really wanted to see a Will Ferrell movie with them. Unfortunately the movie wasn’t all that great, though it did have a Daiymo Hermitaur in it!  Plus I got to see posters for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, a preview for the new Harry Potter movie (July 15th! ….oh shut up, the books are great!)  and I got to see Will Ferrell in his undies! So w00t!

However, there was even MORE that same day…

What could it be...?

Just beat a Hypnocatrice, took 9 mins and 30 seconds, using DUAL element duals! Freaking awesome! The new area “Great Forest” looks amazing, the new music is not bad either!

So I just played the whole MHFU demo! YAY! Hypnocatrice is AWESOME as is the Great Forest area! DUAL ELEMENT DUALS IN ACTION! The new music is also amazing… I love this demo! However, I have 50 billion (give or take, lol) hours on MH, MHF, and MHF2. I was reading the many posts on the boards about the demo, vets of the series are excited about it…newcomers not so much.

It is about time there was a MH demo, unfortunately they may messed up in a few areas and that might push a few people away.

1. You can’t check your status. To me this is bad, because you cannot look at all the little details on each piece of armor or weapon. It has the effect of saying ‘All armor is the same, it just looks different.’ Which is completely untrue. It should be noted, that in the demo all armor has the same skills….they seem to be to be Auto-Tracker and Health +50.

2. You cannot break pieces off monsters. No broken beaks, no tail cutting, nada. Ripping the monsters to shreds and making them look like hell is half the fun and should be included in the demo! I got the feeling I was causing no damage to anything until it finally limped. I could see that turning away a few people as it can feel like an endless battle and that you are getting no where.

3. G-Rank. Ouch. Plum D. Hermitaur, G-Rank, with his speed and new attacks is quite the challenge! MH is known for being a difficult game, shoving that difficulty down a newbie’s throat in a demo is probably not the best idea. Though it could turn out to be a good thing for the gamers who like a challenge! On the other hand, Auto-Tracker included on every quest!? Where is the “hunting” in that!?

4. No village! NOOOOOO! This is probably the biggest mistake. You play the demo, you kill a monster, you don’t even get to carve the bosses, then it just says quest cleared. They should have included carving and just a peak at the armory so new players could see that you use the items you collect to build better armors and better weapons. They could have let you start in Steel armor or something the kill a few Hypno’s and make a few pieces of armor so you get the gist. Killing monsters is only half the fun of MH. Making armors and weapons, that is where it gets addicting!

I also wish it would save the kill times so you could go back and try to beat your times. That way you could see how you actually become a better hunter as you play, you learn monster’s moves and you can kill them so much faster, without dying, using the exact same equipment.

I hope I am not coming off as hating the demo, as I said before, I loved it! I am ready for MHFU to come out RIGHT NOW! They just could have made the demo a bit more accessible to all gamers.

As a vet or newbie to MH what did you think of the demo?

What is with the crappy advertising? I’ll admit this trailer is MUCH MUCH better then the trailer with the english guy however they once again show no gameplay. WHY!? Plus, a lot of that FMV is recycled from MHF2.

I was searching around on youtube and stumbled across this fan-made trailer.

 

After watching that trailer I wanted to play MHFU, RIGHT NOW! I didn’t really like the random lady hunter talking, but it was still an amazing trailer.  Will Capcom ever get it right?

…at least they are trying I guess…

 

Anyways, I beat the Training School in Monster Hunter Freedom 2 today! W00t! That was extremely difficult. Garuga with a hammer took me FOREVER. I almost gave up about 23,456 times. None of you know what I am talking about except JR and Jane, LOL! I  don’t care, I am just happy I beat it! Now to go get 2 Rajang coins and make Helper U! More useless armor that looks awesome! YAY!

I also still need to finish Special Training, Treasure Hunts, get the Crowns, capture every monster, get 4 rare weapons in each weapon type, get to Expand pickaxes to finish my combo list…ummm I think that is it, LOL! How can you have almost 700 hours on a game and still have SO MUCH to do? I do not think I will ever get all the crowns or capture every monster…but I might. I have almost 2 months before MHFU comes out…we’ll see…

 

I am starting to wonder what exactly carries over from MHF2 to MHFU. I have asked on 3 different message boards and no one seems to be able to give me a straight answer. I kinda miss being a n00b in the MH games so I would be happiest if I restarted back at HR 1 with no quests clear and given tickets based off what I had in MHF2. Just like the transfer from MHF1 to MHF2.

 However I have heard that EVERYTHING  (Hunter Rank, weapons, armors, training school, etc.) will transfer. I am not sure how I feel about that. I mean sure I will only be HR6 and MHFU has up to HR9, and every weapon I have now will probably have higher upgrades…I just, hmmm, I don’t know exactly how I feel about starting a game in the middle of it…if that makes any sense.

You do not HAVE to transfer your save file over, but I would want to. Even if it meant starting in the middle. I have no idea why. Here’s hoping there will be a clear answer as to what transfers over in the coming weeks.
