United Airlines: Fly The Friendly Skies As Long As You’re The Right Size!
I read in a news article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30227335/) that United Airlines will now require overweight passengers to buy two seats when purchasing plane tickets. At first when I read that I figured there was no way it could be true. Isn’t that discrimination? It pissed me off. I am 5ft 4in, I weigh 127 lbs and I think the seats are far to small.
I wonder how the meeting went…
Gee, Bob, we sure have got a lot of complaints about our seats being to small.
You sure are right Jim.
Well, gee, I wonder what we could do Bob.
Oh I know, Jim! It’s not that our seats are to small it’s that people are to big!
Oh boy! Bob you are on to something now!
Oh Jim just you wait and see! I got just the thing! Instead of making the seats bigger and more comfortable we will make the fat people charge extra…
That is bull shit and should not be allowed. However, apparently many other airlines have similar rules.
So can two 120 lb people share a single seat? Can a parent and their child only pay for one and a half seats? What about midgets? What if the person is overweight because of genetics? Hell, even if it is because they want to sit at home and eat cake all day, it should not matter. GAH! One person, one ticket. Period. This is just ridiculous.
I have been seated between overweight people. It is not comfortable. I have been seated between underweight people. It is not comfortable. Just because a person takes up two seats DOES NOT mean they should have to pay for two seats. What is to stop the airlines from making the seats smaller and smaller?
While I get that there are weight restrictions on airlines, blah blah blah. Make planes with fewer seats. Make the seats larger. Sure less people can fly at once, however, the flight will be more comfortable and the less weight in the planes due to them not being over crowded will save on fuel. Everyone is happy. …ok so the airlines would probably lose some money, but they charge an arm and a leg for a ticket anyways. They don’t even offer peanuts anymore. $200 for a ticket and I don’t get a single peanut.
If you do not want to sit next to an overweight person follow these simple steps:
1.YOU buy 2 tickets.
2.YOU choose your seat.
3.YOU quit your bitching.
4. Done.
So, what’s next? Tall people going to have to pay for two movie tickets?
