…kinda!
So if you have got a computer just sitting around doing nothing you should have it join my SETI@home team and get searching for Extraterrestrial Intelligence! Hahahaha, I know that sounds insane, but that is really what we are doing in my computer architecture class! It’s a test to see which group in the class can get the most people running the program. When you run the program you do ‘projects’ every completed project earns my team more points. Whichever team gets the most points….wins! So yeah, I like winning and stuff….:D
Here’s how you join:
1. Go to http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/
2. Click on ‘your account’ then ‘create account’
3. Create an account!
4. Once you have your account search for a team call ‘Fontaine Futuristics’ and join it. (You may have to refresh the page until the ‘join team’ option shows up…)
5. Once you have your account and have joined the team download and install BOINC
6. Now umm…I can’t rememeber, LOL! I think you go to New Project to start a project. (Make sure you attach your account and team to the project, there will be prompts helping you thru this part)
7. Now just run BOINC whenever you are not on your computer! That’s it! YAY!
SETI@home runs the same as FOLDING@home, just instead of folding proteins it is searching for Extraterrestrial Intelligence! It uses your computers’ processor…yadda yadda yadda.
Hmmm, I need some sort of incentive to make you join and run the program. I’ll think of something…
LOL good luck!

This computer sucks and won’t hold any programs that have been downloaded and installed once it has been shut down.
It is a deep freeze program for a network computer. I wish I had a god computer because I wouldn’t mind running this and Folding@Home.
I hope it goes well and how cool would it to say that Dagger_32 found robots from Planet RobotPlanetName. =)

Gah! I’ve left it on for about two days now! It’s kind of hot in my dorm room now…
I think I’ve folded… er, done whatever it is this program does, enough. It’s kind of awkward saying I’ve done THAT enough. Especially when I haven’t done any.
Ugh, to be honest that slang makes me feel nauseous. It sounds so vulgar and lacking respect for the other gender. Hm? Whoops, tangent in the works. Crap, I still haven’t turned it off!

w00t!!! I got my laptop, it is a god one! Hehehe
My team has pretty much got this project won. It runs until the end of his semester, but so far, wow, no one will catch us.
Hey Fu, no worries! Thanks for joining!

Hey, is this still ongoing? I’ve been opening the program up every so often. Are you still going? If not, did you win? Will you share your victory cake? Or your defeat cabbage? I’ll even take that… wait, no I won’t. Keep that ball of leaves away from me!
Comment by Fupas — October 4, 2009 @ 1:42 am
Hey fupas, this runs until December! So far we are about 80,000 points ahead of any other team, so yeah it’s pretty safe to assume we are going to win! Man I hope we get cake…
